NLSO Education Program & Competition
The NLSO is proud to have recently acquired Association with Bow School for Maths and Computing. Our Mission is to provide intensive in-school Musical Educational Workshops which will enhance the learning of the Students by introduction and teaching of the various components of orchestral musicianship, classical music and integration into our rehearsals with the NLSO.
This is open to the children and their parents giving exposure to the process of operational concert production while engaging with the families of the students for distribution of printed materials amongst the local community. We will enthusiastically embrace Equality and Diversity, explain our Aims and Objectives, encourage Team Building, recognise skills and delegate responsibility to the Students.
Our education workshops support the development of creative talent in young people including routes for their progression.
We have also recently launched a young composers competition aimed at The Royal College, and Academy of Music, and The Royal Northern College of Music. The competition is for student composers to write a specific work for our Chamber Concert Series soloists. The composition must be based upon the Aurora Borealis and we are looking forward to sifting through the entries! Each winning work will begin our chamber music recitals at St. Martin in the Fields.
